![Palpebræ Staff Picks [March]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/post-quadrati-per-sito-o-altro-1024x1024.avif)
Third edition of our “Staff Picks” column features 10 releases that caught our attention in March. A journey through experimental music, ambient, dub and techno. Exceptionally, we have included an album originally released in 2009, recently remastered and pressed on vinyl for the first time: “The Seduction of Silence” by Intrusion, undoubtedly one of our favorite releases.
☉ Vand – Trialism [Isotoop]
![Vand - Trialism [isotoop]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/04-03.avif)
Just over two years since its debut, Isotoop presents its second release, produced by the Dutch musician Vand, who is also the founder of the label. With this new release, Vand immerses us in his dark, syncopated, and unpredictable universe, kicking things off with “Futureshock”, perfect for the dancefloor. Completing the EP is the remix by the Italian duo natural.electronic/system, which enriches “Trialism” with a web of hypnotic and evocative loops, adding a touch of depth and magnetism.

☉ Brendon Moeller – Peacemaker [Steadfast Records]
![Brendon Moeller - Peacemaker [Steadfast Records]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/07-03_2.avif)
Brendon Moeller once again establishes himself as one of the most prolific producers of recent years (according to our tastes, of course). In fact, we’ve lost count of all the amazing EPs that have been released lately under his name (but also under his aliases Echologist and Beat Pharmacy). As far as we’re concerned, in music, it’s not about quantity, but quality. And when quality and quantity come together, well, that’s called genius. This time, he has delivered 4 deep dub gems for Steadfast Records, rich with devastating sub-bass. The celestial atmospheres are darkened by dubstep influences, not suitable for the faint of heart. That’s why we’re really sorry we can’t purchase the release in physical format…

☉ Sa Pa – The Fool [Short Span]
![Sa Pa - The Fool [Short Span]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/07-03.avif)
These tracks have dragged us into a vortex from which it is impossible to escape! The structured and penetrating sounds, skillfully orchestrated by Sa Pa, lead us on a quest for unexplored soundscapes. The delicacy of the composition is pleasantly interrupted by fragments of harsh and restless field recordings, which spread depth and tension. This collector’s piece, enriched by artwork curated by The Trilogy Tapes & Bene Pooley, marks the beginning of the journey for Short Span, the new label founded and led by Matthew Kent. Could there have been a better debut?

Aptid is the new album released by Yuku, the Prague-based label and event series. The album emerges from the multifaceted creativity of the duo Traka, multidisciplinary artists known for their skills in blending electronic music, graffiti, and visual arts. (We’re fans of all this stuff, so much respect to you guys!) The album is entirely designed for the club and features eight explosive tracks, ready to shake any dancefloor on the planet. The influences of Breakbeat, Dubstep, and Garage create a raw and powerful sound, marked by sharp distortions and overwhelming energy. Notable collaborations include Italian producer Coido and bass music master Muadeep.

☉ Whatever The Weather – Whatever The Weather II

London-based musician Loraine James returns with the second chapter of the Whatever The Weather series, a more intimate and experimental project compared to her main productions. Under this alias, James gives herself the freedom to explore more abstract and introspective sound territories, expanding the boundaries of her artistic journey. As in the first volume, the tracks on Whatever The Weather II are titled according to their “emotional temperature” at the time of recording. However, this time, the overall atmosphere feels “warmer” and more enveloping compared to the previous edition, a feeling further reinforced by the album cover, a photograph by Collin Hughes.
The album is a blend of layered textures, fragmented rhythms, and field recording collages with a diaristic character. Its beauty, fragile and shifting, arises from the fusion of organic and human elements, reworked through a combination of digital and analog techniques.
Once again, the mastering is entrusted to Josh Eustis (alias Telefon Tel Aviv), whose touch has helped shape a three-dimensional and immersive sonic experience.

☉Fernie – Celestial [Portal]
![Fernie - Celestial [Portal]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/14-03.avif)
A concentrate of deep techno produced by Fernie, released on the Portal label. The emotional pads and cosmic soundscapes, distinctive features of the Glasgow-based producer, are present in this EP as well, inspired by themes of space exploration and astrology. Pressed on transparent vinyl with black smoke, side A welcomes us with dark atmospheres, broken rhythms, and ethereal pads, transporting us into the celestial world of the artist. On side B, there are two more impactful tracks designed to conquer the dancefloors. Among them, “Critical Function” stands out, reinterpreted in a powerful remix by the Italian deep techno master, Ness.

☉ Conna Haraway – Spatial Fix [Theory Therapy]
![Conna Haraway - Spatial Fix [Theory Therapy]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/21-03.avif)
Theory Therapy welcomes Conna Haraway for the second time, the artist behind their first vinyl release. With Spatial Fix, the Glasgow-based producer showcases the evolution of his sound more effectively. In this EP, introspective atmospheres intertwine with textures filled with tension and unpredictability, emerging in a discontinuous manner. The whole work is enriched by field recordings, some of which were captured during his latest 2024 tour in Japan and South Korea. A sonic universe where beauty and brightness coexist with deep unease.
The artwork was created by Conna Haraway himself, in collaboration with Gary Hunter.

☉ Mind Archives – Morriña [Santa Compaña]
![Mind Archives - Morriña [Santa Compaña]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/24-03.avif)
Morriña marks the debut release of Mind Archives on his new label, Santa Compaña. This deep techno EP is a sonic journey that skillfully weaves together elements of minimal, dub, and ambient, highlighting the deep musical experience of the Galician artist. As the title suggests, Morriña is a typically Galician word that describes a unique form of nostalgia, a heart-wrenching longing for home. But here, rather than melancholy, there’s a palpable suspended energy—the intense feeling one experiences during the most emotional moments. Something like… the dust rising as the crowd is swept away by the music, when the dawn begins to make its way onto the dancefloor. The EP also features a remix by the duo Atomic Moog, who reinterpret the title track, adding an additional layer of mysticism and evocation. The result is a refined, hypnotic, and deep work, perfect for those who love techno that is both enveloping and transcendental.

Pianeti Sintetici and Simon Oak land on Stagno Records with Amazzone, an entirely “Made in Milan” EP that celebrates the primordial heartbeat of the forest. The label’s second release, the record takes the listener along the course of a rainforest river, where fluid and enveloping pulsations intertwine with unpredictable and unsettling sonic events. Mystic and sharp sounds precisely evoke this scenario, transforming it into an immersive and hypnotic experience.
