For the 18th episode of our mix series, we welcome Romanian producer DYL.
Known for his continuous exploration of drum & bass, abstract techno and ambient territories, DYL has carved out a distinctive sonic identity built on rhythmic precision and emotional depth. His work moves fluidly between driving 170 BPM structures and immersive atmospheric layers, balancing intensity with introspection.
Alongside his production work, DYL recently launched his own label, Achordat. The imprint debuted last October with its first physical release, developed in close collaboration with his partner Roberta. A second release is scheduled for March 6, continuing the project’s carefully curated and tactile approach. Through Achordat, DYL extends his artistic vision beyond the studio, shaping a platform that reflects both his sonic identity and his commitment to independent, physical formats.
For this guest mix, DYL offers a deeply personal statement: a selection composed exclusively of his own productions, both released and unreleased. The result is a journey that spans ambient textures, IDM-inflected passages, intricate drum & bass frameworks and the more exploratory edges of forward-thinking electronic music. A self-portrait in sound, tracing the full spectrum of his artistic trajectory.
Have a good reading and listening!

☉ You’ve been consistently evolving as a producer. Are there any upcoming releases or collaborations you can share with us, and what sonic territories are you exploring?
“At this stage, I’m exploring more stripped-back, textural territories, working with space, tension, and subtle rhythmic shifts rather than obvious peak moments. There’s a stronger focus on depth and internal movement within minimal structures, allowing the atmosphere to evolve more naturally and patiently.
In terms of upcoming projects, I have new material in progress and I’m currently working on something with Cosmin TRG, as well as a project with Roberta. Both collaborations are really exciting for me, as they push me slightly into different sonic territories while still staying true to my core aesthetic.”
☉ Achordat has become a distinctive platform within your artistic vision. Could you tell us more about the philosophy behind the label and the directions or projects you’re currently developing for its future?
“Achordat was born from the need to create a space where I could fully express a certain emotional and sonic depth without compromise. The philosophy behind the label revolves around timelessness, atmosphere, and subtle intensity — music that doesn’t just function on a dancefloor, but also carries an introspective weight. I’m interested in sounds that feel immersive and cinematic, yet restrained. For the future, I’m focusing on expanding Achordat both conceptually and curatorially. I want to develop more cohesive releases, possibly including VA projects and collaborations that align with the label’s aesthetic. There’s also an intention to explore interdisciplinary elements — visuals and spatial experiences — to strengthen the identity beyond just music.”
☉ For this mix recorded for Palpebræ, what was your approach? How did you shape the narrative, and what kind of atmosphere were you aiming to build throughout the session?
“For the Palpebræ mix, I approached it as a gradual unfolding rather than a peak-driven set. I wanted to create a subtle, hypnotic narrative that evolves almost imperceptibly, drawing the listener into a deeper state over time.
The atmosphere I aimed for was intimate and immersive — something that feels suspended between tension and calm. I focused on layering textures and allowing tracks to breathe, letting transitions become part of the storytelling rather than just functional blends.”
