Here we are! We’re back with our Staff Picks agenda and our favorite releases of August. In this roundup you’ll find ambient, IDM, trip hop, techno, and much much more. Enjoy!
☉ Kloke – Lucidity [Mindgames]
![Kloke - Lucidity [Mindgames]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Lucidity-by-Kloke.avif)
Kloke reaffirms his place at the forefront of today’s jungle scene with “Lucidity”, a release that merges razor-sharp technique with hypnotic atmospheres. Out on Mindgames, the album comes as a 3×12” — more than an hour-long journey straight into the beating heart of jungle and drum & bass.
Each track is built with surgical precision, yet never feels constrained: freedom and experimentation run through the record, ensuring that the weight of the past never overshadows the present. Re-pitched samples and raw textures shape a sound that feels at once nostalgic and futuristic.
Powerful, meticulously detailed, and emotionally gripping, it stands as a testament to Kloke’s craft — an unmissable work for anyone seeking jungle that is technical, visceral, and uncompromising.

☉ Stone – Dream Curtain Eternally Gentle [3XL]
![Stone - Dream Curtain Eternally Gentle [3XL]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Dream-Curtain-Eternally-Gentle-by-Stone.avif)
Stone delivers a true gem on the legendary 3XL with “Dream Curtain Eternally Gentle” — an album that feels like a dream you don’t want to wake up from. Trip-hop and downtempo references run through the record, giving it a laid-back, hazy atmosphere that turned our summer into something far more luminous and surreal.
Picking favorites here is impossible — every track is stunning. Still, certain moments left us speechless: the opening sample of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication woven into “Steady” or the delicate vocals on “Pixie” both strike with unexpected beauty.
This is music to live with, to get lost in, to dream through. Simply essential listening.

![Ragom V.A. (ST๐๑๒) [Siamese Twins Records]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Ragom-V.A.-ST๐๑๒.avif)
Ragom (ST๐๑๒) is our favorite compilation of August. Released by Siamese Twins Records on a limited-edition cassette (already sold out, unsurprisingly), the release gathers nine experimental tracks from nine different Asian producers, staying true to the label’s vision.
What we get is a collection of pieces built from deep textures, piercing vocals, and immersive field recordings. Each track unfolds like a ritual, weaving ceremonial soundscapes that hypnotize the listener and transport them straight into nocturnal Asian territories.
A limited tape that feels like a sonic artifact — raw, evocative, and utterly mesmerizing.

Aura Sonora keeps pushing its sonic research forward, this time bringing together DYL & Tammo Hesselink for “Moiré Patterns”. The EP delivers four broken-rhythm explorations that highlight the finesse of two of the most compelling names in today’s experimental club scene.
Across the record, the duo moves seamlessly between broken techno and minimal drum & bass, layering atmospheric pulses and tribal percussion that carve out a mystical yet hypnotic aura.
The closing track, Pattern 4, is without doubt our pick of the release. Test it yourself: try listening without nodding your head or moving your hands. Impossible. What a track.

☉ Florian TM Zeisig – A New Life [Stroom]
![Florian TM Zeisig - A New Life [Stroom]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/a-new-life.avif)
“A New Life”, the new album by Florian TM Zeisig released on STROOM, unfolds as an inner journey shaped by sounds and atmospheres suspended between meditation, introspection, and pure emotion. Its seven tracks don’t aim to “entertain” but rather invite the listener to an authentic, unfiltered experience where fragility and ecstasy coexist in delicate balance.
Enhanced by the harp and saxophone of Róisín and Cathal Berkeley, the record moves gracefully between emotional subtlety and spiritual intensity, offering moments of truth and reconciliation. A New Life ultimately becomes an invitation to strip away our masks and rediscover, in its purest form, the possibility of living freely.

☉ Laima Adelaide – Surface as Memory [Predawn Records]
![Laima Adelaide - Surface as Memory [Predawn Records]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/laima.avif)
We can confidently say we’ve been fans of Laima Adelaide since her very first release, and her new EP only reaffirms that. The Stuttgart-based DJ/producer returns with “Surface as Memory” on her own label Predawn Records: a work inspired by the concept of “surface” in its most abstract sense.
Four deep techno cuts unfold with elegance and fluidity, enriched by rarefied elements that emerge and dissolve throughout the compositions. Across the record, Laima’s razor-sharp sound design stands out—an outcome of her solid background as a composer.
Listening to the EP, we couldn’t help but wonder whether Laima envisioned herself above or beneath the very surface evoked in the title—an enigmatic yet fascinating sensation.

☉ Sleep D – Gummy Dreams [Butter Sessions Records]
![Sleep D - Gummy Dreams [Butter Sessions Records]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/gummy-dreams.avif)
Butter Sessions bosses Sleep D return to their own label with “Gummy Dreams“, a 12” that perfectly captures the essence of their sonic identity.
On the A-side, Gummy Drop—refined over years of the duo’s live sets—finally appears in its definitive form: a dub-techno journey built on a heavy, enveloping low-end, layered with hazy textures and effects that make it both hypnotic and devastating on the dancefloor.
The B-side, Dreamhole, ventures into more introspective territory, abandoning linear structures in favor of a broken, cerebral rhythm enriched with dreamy melodies—music that moves not only the body but the mind.

☉ Quiem – Sentiment Series Vol.15 [Shaw Cuts]
![Quiem - Sentiment Series Vol.15 [Shaw Cuts]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/quiem.avif)
When Farron, head of Shaw Cuts, steps into his Quiem alias, magic always happens. (We’ll admit it: we fell in love with his music back when he dropped The Sentimental Swordsman EP). Now he returns with the fifteenth installment of the Sentiment Series — 14 releases after his debut entry, which also kicked off the entire collection.
At first listen, the album might feel homogeneous, thanks to the delicacy and elegance that run through every track. But dig deeper, and its versatility becomes clear: ambient, breakbeat, IDM, and leftfield techno unfold seamlessly, all enriched by deep textures that carry you into ethereal soundscapes.
A record we truly loved from start to finish.

☉ Monrella – Want Those For [Counterpoint]
![Monrella - Want Those For [Counterpoint]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/monrella.avif)
Birmingham veteran Mick “Mongoose” Harris returns under his Monrella alias with “Want Those For”, released on LA-based label Counterpoint. The EP delivers four tracks (plus one digital bonus) steeped in the raw, industrial grit of the classic “Birmingham sound”—a style that has nearly vanished, but here is resurrected with full force.
These are brutal, body-shaking cuts: distorted, heavy, and uncompromising, with basslines that hit deep and hard. The raw edge of the production comes from Monrella’s unmistakably analog approach, a reminder of his consistency and refusal to chase trends or follow the easy route.
No frills, no compromises—just pure, unfiltered power. Respect.

☉ Pugilist & Tamen – Source [Ruff Kutz]
![Pugilist & Tamen - Source [Ruff Kutz]](https://palpebrae.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/a1160229421_10.avif)
Ruff Kutz reaches its second release with label boss Pugilist teaming up with longtime collaborator Tamen. The duo, already well-known to listeners, deliver “Source”—an EP steeped in atmospheric jungle, dub echoes, and retro-tinged samples that fuse nostalgia with a modern edge. Call it “glamour jungle” or “classy d’n’b”—either way, it works.
Among the four cuts, Fuchsia stands out: running at an unexpectedly lower BPM, it weaves dubby and melancholic elements into a techno-leaning structure without losing its jungle core—an extremely versatile track, perfect for any dancefloor.
Then there’s Limerick, perhaps the most intimate moment on the record and, without doubt, our favorite. Dedicated to Tamen’s great-uncle, who passed away during the track’s creation, it’s a deeply emotional piece. Even Pugilist himself has called it one of the duo’s best works to date.
