Staff Picks: January Selection

Hello everyone 🙂 We’re back! The new year opens with the first edition of our Staff Picks, a selection that marks the beginning of 2026 and continues a ritual we’ve long embraced.
January Selection brings together ten releases that have caught our attention over the past weeks — albums and EPs chosen for their affinity, vision, and expressive urgency.
A starting point rather than a summary, inviting us to move through the first sounds of the year together. Enjoy!

☉ Dialog – DOT 4 (feat. Benji) [DOT Records]

Dialog - DOT 4 (feat. Benji) [DOT Records]

With “DOT 4″, Dialog further expand their contemporary vision of dubwise electronic music. A powerful release shaped around two clearly defined halves: the solid, dancefloor-driven backbone of “Chant” stands in contrast to the more meditative pulse of “Silence”, positioned somewhere between slowed-down steppas and trip-hop. In collaboration with Benji, Dialog once again demonstrate how their sound knows no boundaries, channeling the deepest principles of dub music into a personal and unmistakably distinctive form.

☉ Surface Access – Transfer [Other People]

Surface Access - Transfer [Other People]

“Transfer” is a deeply evocative and immersive dub techno EP. Released on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People, it consists of two tracks — “Isolation Depth” and “Exposition Zero.” The release strikes a refined balance between expansive sonic spaces and dark, pulsing undercurrents: Isolation Depth unfolds into a reverberant, hypnotic landscape, while Exposition Zero carries a more energetic vibration, still wrapped in an aura of mystery. Overall, Transfer confirms Surface Access as an artist capable of refreshing and reshaping the language of classic dub techno, offering both moments of intimate listening and elements suited for the dancefloor, infused with a sense of cosmic depth and emotional tension.
